THE CELEBRATION OF QUEEN ELIZABETH AFTER 50 YEARS AS QUEEN OF ENGLAND
We all attended church today To sing a hymn and then to pray.
It was a day of celebration,
A day of joy throughout the nation.
In Barwick village as in others
The church was full of Dads and Mothers.
The children had a hymn to sing,
They fairly made the rafters ring.
The banners of the British Legion,
The scouts and cubs throughout the region,
Were carried high to be dislayed
As we attended church parade
And for our Queen's fifty years of reign
We thanked the good Lord one again.

THE VILLAGE TRIP FROM BARWICK
We're going on a trip today
To Bridlington and Filey Bay
The Prindale coach is almost loaded
Now Nathan, Mrs Scott has goaded
With Mrs Murphy she's been seated
Now our party is completed.
Walking sticks are laid aside
As we at last commence our ride
One hour at Filey our first stop
Time for a coffee or to shop
Then for "Brid" we board the bus
The weather's really kind to us.
We're all happy no one grumbles
Then at last the stomach rumbles
Find a cafe or a pub
We're all ready for some grub
Fish and chips they are a must
And a pint or a cuppa to settle the dust.
A steady stroll along the front
Or a trip to sea is what we want.
At last it's time to set off home
When everyone has ceased to roam.
We have enjoyed it one and all
We extend our thanks to Mrs Wall.
